The Beswick
Advantage
O-ring seals on all fittings. Beswick fittings are designed to take
advantage of the sealing capabilities of O-rings. The fittings incorporate
a groove, which is designed to retain an O-ring. This groove is purposely designed
to have less height than the O-ring cross section. When a fitting is screwed
into place, the O-ring is squeezed between the O-ring groove and the mating
surface. An elastometric O-ring will resist this squeeze of deformation and
by attempting to return to its original shape will sort a force on the mating
surfaces. This produces a seal in the areas that the O-ring contacts a mating
surface and will prevent the passage of fluid.
